Cannes Film Festival 2022: Love According to Dalva | Interview of Emmanuelle Nicot

We interviewed Emmanuelle Nicot, director of Love According to Dalva, a remarkable debut feature presented at the 61st Critics’ Week, at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

One of our absolute favourites of the 75th Cannes Film Festival was found at the Critics’ Week: Love According to Dalva by Emmanuelle Nicot, whom we were thrilled to meet and chat with.

Although Dalva is 12, she dresses, wears make-up and lives like a woman. One evening, she’s suddenly taken away from a father’s house. Dumbfounded and outraged at first, she later meets Jayden, a social worker, and Samia, a teen with a temper. A new life seems to start for Dalva, that of a girl her age.

The result is brilliant, poignant and captivating feature, anchored by an absorbing and profoundly performance by Actress Zelda Samson.
